Empowering Eyre Dinner Supports Local Young People

Earlier this month, community members, business leaders, philanthropists, school partners and supporters gathered at the Port Lincoln Hotel for the Empowering Eyre Dinner, raising an incredible $45,000 to support young people across the Eyre Peninsula.

Youth Opportunities has been working with young people in the region since 2004, and the recent establishment of our Eyre Peninsula Community Hub has created new opportunities to strengthen local partnerships and expand our impact.

Held in proud partnership with Jenny Hurley AM, the Port Lincoln Hotel and Hurley Hotel Group, the evening brought together people from across the community who share a commitment to supporting the next generation.

Guests enjoyed a three-course dinner, fundraising auctions and inspiring presentations from special guest speaker Peter “Super” Carey OAM and Youth Opportunities graduate Armani from Tumby Bay Area School. Armani shared her personal journey and reflected on the difference the right support can make in helping young people build confidence, navigate challenges and pursue their goals.

Funds raised through the event will help Youth Opportunities deliver more leadership and wellbeing programs across the Eyre Peninsula, ensuring more young people have access to the skills, support and opportunities they need to thrive. The event has also laid a wonderful foundation for relationships across the region to continue growing and flourishing, strengthening our shared commitment to young people and their futures.

We would like to sincerely thank Jenny Hurley AM and the team at the Port Lincoln Hotel for their generosity and support in hosting the event. Following the dinner, Jenny shared:

“Samantha and I were delighted to represent the Hurley Hotel Group at the Empowering Eyre Fundraising Dinner.

A special thank you to our Port Lincoln Hotel team, especially Karena Cowley, for their fantastic support of the event.

It was inspiring to hear from a Youth Opportunities graduate and be reminded of the life-changing impact this wonderful organisation has on young people.”

We are also grateful to our sponsors MGA Whittles and the Lang Family Foundation, our wine donors Gardiner’s Vineyard, Boston Bay Wines and Miracle Hill, our beer sponsor Asahi Beverages, auctioneer Steve Kemp, and everyone who contributed to making the evening such a success.

The Empowering Eyre Dinner was a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when local people, businesses and organisations come together to invest in young people and brighter futures for the Eyre Peninsula.
