Working in partnership

We empower young people

With 3 in 10 young Australians facing barriers to achieving their goals - such as low motivation, poor mental health, and lack of confidence, our mission has never been more critical. Through early intervention and holistic support, we’re helping young people build the skills and strategies they need to thrive.

In 2024, Youth Opportunities expanded its impact nationwide, engaging 3,760 young people through our Personal Leadership Programs and wraparound services. We partnered with 51 schools across South Australia, Western Australia, Queensland, and New South Wales, responding to the growing need for mental health and wellbeing support among young people.

Our commitment to young people doesn’t end when the program does. Through our PROSPER Graduate Engagement Program, we continue to support graduates for up to two years, offering meaningful opportunities to practise their leadership, advocacy, and agency skills.

To ensure accessibility, we provide program subsidies wherever possible, enabling young people facing disadvantage or disengagement to participate and benefit from our life-changing programs.

We’re deeply grateful to our community of supporters — schools, educators, partners, and donors — who make this impact possible. Together, we’re building a future where every young person can lead their life with purpose, resilience, and hope.

To partner with Youth Opportunities, we encourage you to reach out to us today, and let’s work together to help positively shape the lives of more young people!

Our trainers and coaches

Our trainers and coaches come from a variety of different professional backgrounds, many with experience in secondary teaching, psychology, social or youth work.

They are required to undertake an extensive recruitment and training process and have ongoing weekly professional development which exceeds 150 hours per year.

Not only do our trainers and coaches receive support in their skills at delivering the program, but they actually participate in the program themselves, enabling them to personalise the theories and better understand the journey of a young person in the Personal Leadership Program.

Professional and personal development includes internal and external training that aligns with our program concepts. This includes:

  • Facilitation methods

  • Positive psychology

  • Mental health first aid training

  • Suicide risk training

  • Gender and sexual identity

Other Services

As well as our face-to-face and online Personal Leadership Program, there are other ways that Youth Opportunities can support your school.

SACE/Personal Learning Plan

Youth Opportunities is a DECD accredited provider of SACE points and the Personal Learning Plan.

Graduate Follow Up Program

Year 11 and 12 is a critical time for our graduates. We want to ensure they continue on their path of success so we provide support through:

  • annual seminars and forums

  • student ambassador initiatives

  • need based mentoring

  • sponsorship in community events and activities

  • goal based incentive initiatives

Teacher Training

Creating cultural change within a school is not just about educating students. We provide personal development opportunities and courses to teachers so they can develop a better understanding of the program and concepts for both professional application and personal growth.

By providing an alternative learning model within a school setting, our program builds the capabilities of teaching staff to support young people. This has led to an increase in staff skills, improved staff and student relationships and increased student retention.
