Hands-on learning at CMV Group’s Car Skills Workshop!

Last month, some of our Youth Opportunities graduates had the chance to get their hands dirty and learn valuable real-world skills at the Car Skills 101 Workshop run by our amazing partners, CMV Group, at CMI Toyota.
The workshop, expertly facilitated by mechanics Darren and Sean, covered a wide range of essential skills for anyone starting out with cars. Students learned practical tasks like changing a tyre, checking and topping up fluids, and other basic maintenance tips that will keep them safe on the road. Beyond the mechanics, they were given smart advice for buying their first car, and valuable information about what the company looks for in future apprentices and employees.
For many of our graduates, this wasn’t just a lesson in car care. Seeing professionals like Darren and Sean share their expertise in such an approachable way reminded students that every skill they develop matters, whether it’s technical knowledge, problem-solving, or simply showing up with curiosity and enthusiasm.
We are so grateful to CMV Group for running this incredible workshop and providing young people with an opportunity to build confidence, try something new, and see themselves in a professional environment. It was a day full of learning, discovery, and inspiration - the perfect example of how partnerships like these create life-changing opportunities for young people.
To everyone involved - Darren, Sean, Belinda, and the CMV Group team - thank you for investing your time, energy, and expertise in our young people, and for your ongoing support of Youth Opportunities. We can’t wait to see what our graduates do next with the skills, confidence, and inspiration they gained at CMI Toyota.
