Charlie Edwards Visits Salisbury East

Earlier this month, students at Salisbury East High School were excited to welcome Adelaide Crows player Charlie Edwards to their Youth Opportunities Personal Leadership Program.

Charlie joined students during the program's Decide to be Happy session, sharing his own experiences and reflecting on the strategies he has used to navigate challenges and maintain a positive mindset.

Speaking openly and honestly, Charlie talked about a difficult period in his life when he needed to make a conscious decision to focus on his wellbeing and happiness. His willingness to share both the challenges he faced and the lessons he learned helped bring the session's key messages to life for students.

Charlie also shared the two words he tries to live by – dedication and consistency – explaining how they have helped shape his approach to both football and life.

The students were incredibly engaged throughout the session, asking thoughtful questions about Charlie's journey, his football career and the advice he would give to young people facing challenges of their own. And, of course, no visit from an Adelaide Crow would be complete without a queue of students armed with sharpies, eager to collect an autograph before he left!

The Decide to be Happy session is part of our Big 4 Decisions, encouraging young people to recognise that while they can't always control what happens around them, they can develop strategies and habits that support their wellbeing and help them respond positively to life's challenges. Charlie's story provided a powerful real-world example of this message in action.

A huge thank you to Charlie for taking the time to visit Salisbury East High School. His openness, positivity and authenticity made a real impact on the students, and we look forward to welcoming him back again soon.
