It goes without saying (though we know that it's more dramatic if we do, so please indulge)... failure is not an option! Because we are not going to fail young people, here at Youth Opportunities we have thought long and hard about the best way to help young people, about how we can really make an impact in their life, and how it can be achievable and sustainable. We have then tried, tested and perfected!
So how do we do it? You may want to sit down for this......It is simple, the best way to help a young person is to show them how to find their own solutions to their problems, meaning we help young people to help themselves. This is achieved through our Personal Leadership Program.
The Personal Leadership Program encourages the individual to consciously commit to taking responsibility for their lives by providing them with a framework for thinking that assists in developing values, knowledge and skills so that they can make positive and productive choices for their future.
But it isn’t just about getting them to take responsibility, our approach is also very much reliant upon our ability to approach situations holistically. We are aware that it is not enough to just cover issues that may appear on the surface. It is important to dig deeper into a young person's world and address some of the underlying issues in order to achieve more positive and sustainable outcomes. As a result each program addresses a range of issues from bullying, peer pressures, lack of confidence to self belief. This results in improving communication, developing relationship skills, and increase motivation for school and/or their future.
