So what does changing lives actually mean? Well I am glad you asked. Changing lives is about providing the opportunity for young people to feel good about themselves, to know they are worth something, to feel respected and appreciated. It's about giving them the belief in themselves to stand up to bullies or to say no to peer pressure. It’s about helping them get on track with their school work and their future career, and for some it’s even just getting them back to school. For others, changing lives is about improving relationships at home, providing young people with the skills to communicate better with their family or in some cases, deal with and overcome abuse.
Why do we say changing lives and not changing a life? Well our program isn't just about changing the life of the individual student we also help them to improve the lives of those around them. By positively influencing others our graduates contribute to improved school culture, stronger and happier family relationships, which helps to develope a more connected community. Maybe you have already been impacted and haven't even realised.
But if you really want to know the impact, why not get it straight from the people whose lives this program has changed: the graduates, their families and our partnering schools you will find them in the Stories of Change.
